Australian Kiteflyers Society

A Timeless Art

Welcome to 2018 FOTW

The Australian Kiteflyers Society play’s a major role in the Festival of Winds at Bondi and 2018 will mark our 40th Year. In co-operation with Waverly council we can celebrate multiculturalism through kite art from around the world. We appreciate their support on many levels.

This 40th Festival of the Wind’s theme is PROUD TO BE AUSTRALIAN. Let's make this the best festival ever. The committee welcomes past and present office holders and members to let us know of your intent to come and celebrate our 40th year. Remember to get your applications in early so your spot in the festivities will be acknowledged.
See you there.

Guests for 2018- Many thanks to all of you who expressed an interest in being our guests at the FOTWs 2018. After much deliberation we have chosen Donna and Fred Taylor from Canada. From the Netherlands we welcome Herman and Ina Plattje.  From New Zealand Craig and Debbie Hansen and from our home turf Sarath Kingsley Gunawardena, Eileen Snee, Mike Richards, Roger Martin and Peter Stauffer who are internationally known kite fliers plus –from Victoria kites4kids: Jo and Ricky Baker and Maggie. We all look forward to seeing their displays and learning from their knowledge and demonstration of skills.

There is a new category called “NO FLY ZONE” It is for kite related objects that do not fly by themselves. They can be ground displays, flags, or line laundry.

A special welcome to our new website and thanks to Cicil Fonseka for his expertise in making this happen.

Raymond Wong President and Karen Gerg Secretary.

It is with a sad heart that we must inform you that our guests from South Africa will not be attending due to the passing of Ashely Ware-Lane.

On behalf of the members of the Australian Kiteflyers Society, we pass our condolences to Mari and her family and friends.
